Each year in May, Africa Day Australia (ADA) hosts a vibrant calendar of events that bring people together to learn, connect and celebrate the richness of African culture.
From entrepreneurship and leadership to sports, art and community celebration, our annual program showcases African excellence and unity in diversity.
Our Story
Africa Day is celebrated globally each year to mark the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) — now the African Union (AU) — on 25 May 1963. This historic moment symbolises the vision of a united, prosperous, and peaceful Africa.
Today, Africa Day continues to be recognised around the world, including in partnership with the United Nations, the African Union, governments, and community organisations.
Each year in May, Africa Day Australia (ADA) hosts a series of signature events that celebrate African culture, achievement and unity across Victoria.
